This makes it much easier to get root.
No more downloading an entire rom to get root.
THIS IS NOT AN ENGINEERING BOOTCHAIN! DO NOT GET YOUR HOPES UP HERE!!!
I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR WHAT YOU FLASH TO YOUR PHONE
FLASHING A BOOTCHAIN IS DANGEROUS, IF IT FAILS YOU ARE ALMOST CERTAINLY GOING TO HAVE A BRICK
What this does for us:
- Allows us to flash a custom recovery through Odin
- Helps us by not having to download an entire rom in order to root and get a custom recovery
What this does not do for us:
- Flash custom kernels to our boot partition, we still must use kexec
It basically puts us in the same boat we've been in all along, just gets us there a lot faster.
IMPORTANT:
I noticed this boot chain would not allow me to flash the kernel from the VRALG1 stock rom via odin. I had to upgrade my boot chain.
This boot chain may cause issues later so I do recommend flashing a newer one once you have your custom recovery.

1. Install the Samsung drivers
2. Boot into Odin. (Power off the device, hold Vol- Home and Power until you get the warning message, then press Vol+)
3. Flash VRALEC.bootchain.tar.md5 via odin in the PDA slot. Your phone will reboot.
4. Boot back into Odin mode and flash a custom recovery (also in the PDA slot) such as cwm 6 w/kexec support: http://goo.im/devs/invisiblek/i535/c...-kexec.tar.md5
5. I recommend flashing a newer boot chain so things in the future will work properly. Here is VRALF2: http://goo.im/devs/invisiblek/i535/B...w_ship.tar.md5
Flash that via Odin in PDA
At this point you may flash a custom rom or whatever you'd like from the custom recovery that we've just flashed.
